Jim Fair III grew up in the Chicago area and graduated from Benedictine University with a bachelor’s degree in management and organizational behavior with a strong concentration in accounting. In 2010, he moved to Central Illinois. He obtained his CPA licensure while working for SURS (State Universities Retirement System) in Champaign.

Over the years, he gained extensive tax and accounting experience working in two public accounting firms, a hearing aid manufacturer, a Lean Six Sigma consulting firm, a state-funded pension plan, a virtual tax preparation company, and a regional bank. Today, Jim is a Senior Business Tax Associate at INB Bloomington, part of INB’s Wealth Management department.

As a tax advisor, Jim values his role as long-term partner to his clients, providing holistic financial planning.

When he’s off the clock, Jim loves to spend time with his wife and young daughter, and he tries to see his four siblings as much as possible, although they live around the country. The family enjoys trying new food options, whether it’s a grilled steak or chicken at home, following a new recipe from a cooking channel or trying one of the local restaurants on occasion.

You’ll also often find Jim with his running shoes laced up, as he enjoys running both outside on either trails or pavement, and on the treadmill. He was heavily involved with Champaign’s Second Wind Running Club and is now retired from the Board after serving as member, vice president and president over the years. One notable accomplishment is that he helped get the twin cities of C-U be selected as an official “Runner Friendly Community,” as designated by the Road Runners Club of America.
